Paul J Connolly,
President and Founder
Mr Connolly retired from the corporate world in Oct 2013, and currently resides in Reynolds Plantation at Lake Oconee in Georgia, where he enjoys golf, wine, reading, and spending time with his wife Kathie, their children and grandchildren.
Prior to retirement, Mr Connolly spent almost 40 years as an executive in the high technology arena, leveraging his experience in telecommunications, broadband and video networks to help Service Providers make the transition to quad play Experience Providers.
In the Office of the CTO, Service Provider Business, for Cisco Systems, Connolly worked with C-Level executives in all types of network operators on a global basis, including MSOs, Telcos, and Satellite Operators, as well as Content Providers such as HBO, ESPN, and Viacom. Providing executive management consulting services, Mr. Connolly was uniquely positioned to help them profitably evolve their business to embrace the new competitive environment. Prior to this role Connolly was Vice President, Business Development in the transmission sector of Scientific Atlanta, a Cisco Company, and held several other executive positions since joining SA in 1995. Before that, Connolly was with Northern Telecom's Public Switching Group for nineteen years, holding design, engineering, marketing, product management and general management positions.
He has been widely published and was a regular speaker at analyst conferences and trade shows throughout the year. Connolly has presented at CES, NAB, NCTA, SCTE, SuperComm, TelcoTV, CANITEC, and others.
Connolly received a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in engineering science and an MBA, both from the University of Toronto.
He served for six years on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He was also an executive mentor for the Georgia 100 program for female executives, and was NorTel’s Executive Lead for President Carter’s Atlanta Project. He currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club in Greensboro, GA. and has recently received a Presidential Points of Light award for his work there.
He served for three years on the Board of Directors for Scientific Atlanta Shanghai, the companies joint venture in China, and held an advisory seat for several years on the Board of Directors of Luminous Networks.
After retirement, I found I still has a strong passion for networks, technology evolution, and most importantly, the people I enjoyed working with so much over my 40 year career. I wanted to stay engaged, even on a part-time basis, with the amazing advances being made in network services
My fundamental premise is that the global-scale network based companies, in particular Alphabet, Amazon, Apple and Facebook, will play a more and more dominant role in a wide variety of network based services. As the exponential growth of the technologies driving data centers, IP networks, and IP devices continues unabated, these companies will be able to carve out a bigger and bigger advantage. The key issues are focus and management execution. My target audience for my research are C-Level executives in the consumer based service provider market, whether content providers, telcos, MSOs, wireless providers, or infrastructure providers.
